Accessible Brant Award

The 2026 Salute to Brant event will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at the TF Warren Group Cainsville Community Centre. 

The Accessible Brant Award recognizes a business, organization, event, or program within the County of Brant that provides a positive contribution to preventing and removing physical barriers, providing exemplary customer service or creating meaningful opportunities through the respectful integration of people with disabilities into the workforce. Additionally, the intent of this award is not to measure the total investment of accessibility into the business/building but showcases the impact that accessibility improvements can have on business of all sizes. Please provide examples of the impact of the nominee’s accessibility initiatives.

Nominees should have made a positive contribution in at least one of the following areas:

Preventing and Removing barriers:

• Adaptations or modifications made to a physical space or program to ensure access by individuals with a range of abilities.
• Installation of ramps, elevators, accessible restrooms, and other renovations to create a barrier free environment.

Customer Service:

• Providing accommodation to a customer with a disability to access goods and services. This would include taking the time to understand a customer’s request and offer an appropriate solution.  Example: availability of alternative formats for print materials, visiting books – library delivery service.
• Products and services designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring they can be easily used by individuals with a diverse range of abilities.

Employment, Training and Awareness:

• Creating meaningful opportunities through the respectful integration of people with disabilities into the workforce.
• Efforts to promote a culture of inclusivity and understanding in the workplace.
• Implementation of training for employees to raise awareness about accessibility and best practices.
