Ownership Changes

Ownership changes at the County of Brant happen as a result of properties being bought and sold. To make a request for an ownership change, attach one (1) of the following documents:

  1. Deed from customer or lawyer’s office
  2. Lawyers letter indicating a change of ownership
  3. Municipal Sales Listing received from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC)
  4. Death Certificate*
  5. Marriage Certificates** (name change only)

*Death Certificates can be obtained at the County of Brant, Burford office at 26 Park Ave. Ownership changes can be made with joint ownership, however if the property is in the deceased person’s name, the property will be changed to read “Estate” only.

**Marriage certificates can be obtained at the County of Brant, Burford office at 26 Park Ave. The name change will be completed to reflect the marriage certificate only.
