Display Fireworks Application 

Display fireworks are type F.2, high hazard firework articles that are classed under the Canadian Explosives Act and Regulations, designed for use by professionals holding a Fireworks Operator Certificate. These articles include but not limited to aerial shells, cakes, roman candles, waterfalls, lances and wheels.

They also include what the Explosives Act calls "high hazard fireworks generally having a practical use". These include large distress signals, sound, pyrotechnic and smoke signals, railway track signals, distress and line-throwing rockets, salutes, theatrical effects and wildlife control devices.

A Display Fireworks Permit is required to discharge exhibition fireworks.

The Fire Chief or Designated Fire Official can issue permits in accordance with the Fireworks Bylaw.

An applicant for a Display Fireworks Permit must submit an application at least thirty (30) calendar days prior to the event that includes:

  1. The name of the Person to whom it is issued and, where the permittee is not an individual, the name of an agent of the permittee;

  2. The address and telephone number of the Person and, where applicable any agent thereof;

  3. The place, date and alternate (rain) date upon which the Fireworks is to be held; and

  4. The name, address, phone number and registration number of the Fireworks Supervisor under whose supervision the Fireworks shall be held;

  5. Written permission from the Owner of the Property on which the Fireworks shall be discharged;

  6. A property description and site plan drawing showing the location of any proposed location where Fireworks are to be discharged.

  7. Submission of a valid certificate of insurance naming the applicant as the named insured verifying proof of public liability insurance in respect of the policy with limits not lower than ($5,000,000.00) five million dollars per occurrence and naming the Corporation of the County of Brant as an additional insured.Any and all deductibles applicable to the above-noted insurance policies shall be the sole responsibility of the named insured, and the County shall bear no cost towards such deductibles.

  8. The applicant must provide a plan satisfactory to the Chief Fire Official which explains the manner in which all unused Fireworks are to be disposed;

  9. Payment of applicable fees as set out in the County of Brant Fees and Charges webpage.  The payment option online will be sent to the applicant once the application is approved by the Fire Department. 

Application is hereby made in accordance with the provisions of the County of Brant Fireworks Bylaw No 19-23
