Site Alteration Application 

The Site Alteration Bylaw regulates the movement of fill in the County, the alteration of land and replaces the previous Fill Bylaw (112-12).

To apply for a permit, please submit the form. Once the application form has been deemed complete by County staff, details on fee payment will be provided.

Additional Information: 

  • Several documents are required at the time of application, including soil quality information on the material being imported to the site and engineer drawings.  For a full listing of required documents, please see Schedule A of the Bylaw.
  • The cost to complete the permit application for Agricultural  Lands, greater than 1000 cubic meters of Site Alteration, is $1090.97.
  • The cost to complete the permit application for Development Lands is $3816.82.
  • The cost to complete the permit application for lands other than Agricultural or Development Lands, between 100 - 1000 cubic meters of Site Alteration, is $279.82
  • The cost to complete the permit application for lands other than Agricultural or Development Lands, greater than 1000 cubic meters, is $2781.39.
  • If Fill or Topsoil will be imported or exported outside of the County of Brant, an additional fee of $2.10 will apply for each cubic metre of imported or exported material.
  • If Site Alteration was performed prior to recieving a permit, a surcharge of double the permit fee + $2 per cubic metre of import, export, or site alteration will apply.
  • A Security Deposit may also required to address any potential damage to the roads from trucks hauling material to and from the site.
  • If you do not have an approved permit, you are subject to penalties in accordance with the By-Law.

By submitting this application, the applicant agrees to abide by By-law 82-22 and the terms and conditions outlined herein to regulations and the requirements for issuance of a Site Alteration Permit (Permit) in the County of Brant.
